[August 11, 2009; Plano, TX] In anticipation of the largest cultural festival in Plano, the Plano Multi-Cultural Outreach Roundtable (MCOR) has partnered with the Plano International Festival to host MCOR’s third annual Celebrate Our World Reception on Thursday August 27, 2009, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Center for American and International Law, 5201 Democracy Drive, Plano 75024. MCOR invites corporate leaders, government officials and community leadership to come together to celebrate Plano’s diversity as well as explore how leadership can work together to support community unity in Plano.

The reception includes a brief panel discussion on how changing demographics in Plano are affecting voting patterns, city planning and other important areas; a review of MCOR’s mission, recent successes and vision for the future; as well as an open forum where key leadership can gather and converse in an informal setting. The supporting sponsor is H-E-B, who for the last three years has supported Plano’s multicultural efforts. The MCOR reception was founded as a private event to precede the Plano International Festival.

The Plano International Festival was conceived by (MCOR) in 2005 to showcase and celebrate the many cultures represented by the people of Plano. It is designed to promote awareness of cultural diversity and facilitate communication between all cultural groups in the community. It also serves to advance Plano’s visibility and standing as an international city. The Plano International Festival is sponsored by the Plano International Festival Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

MCOR’s mission is to partner with Plano City Council and the citizens of Plano to encourage understanding of and participation in the government process and the needs and desires of its diverse citizens.
